Plain english, "THE MOVIE"

Just a quick note, the mention of the need of the Chief Executive Officer's participation in the fight against H.A.I. in this video, again, we are back to Edwards Deming, “Quality starts from the top”, no matter what part of the planet you are on, I did not have to explain why my advocacy runs through the Oval Office to the statisticians up in the S.F. Bay area, thank you for watching and “thank you” for all that you do! I do believe we are at the "action" part of the P.D.C.A. (plan, do, check, action) wheel, I would really like to see the first certificate given out for a "V.A.P. Free" medical facility sometime in the near future!
The enclosed video has a happy, uplifting ending, my "observers" deserve nothing less. The fact that the narrative and the story totally contradict one another is a bit odd, the ending is happy but the "statistics" at the hospital took a big hit, the narrative is the best description of how the influence of Edwards Deming has made our world more efficient, in the case of health care, increased safety and affordability.

You have to be careful in this business not to let emotion cloud what you are seeing, in this case, in my opinion, both messages are important but remember that might be mom, dad or even you in there needlessly suffering. The narrative did not address the cost of H.A.I. both in lives and money but it does, very effectively, address that fact that Glen is not a "statistic", he is just like you and me, in my opinion!

The "Commander and Chief" and the top 12

June 4, 2012

The Honorable President Barack Obama

The White House

Re: The eradication of Hospital Associated Infections (HAI) in our V.A. hospitals

Dear President Obama,

Please allow me to once again thank you and your staff for the efforts currently underway in the struggle to eradicate Hospital Associated Infections (HAI) in healthcare facilities across our nation.

My advocacy led me to the news release issued by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses that the Critical Care Societies Collaborative, (CCSC), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awarded twelve facilities with:

“2012 Outstanding Achievement and Leadership award concerning H.A.I.”

My advocacy, to date, has been dedicated to “support those who help others” and a few Jarheads, the fact that the entire system will more than likely have to be fixed for me to achieve my goals, well, the fact that our local community hospital, Twin Cities, made the top 12 in the country is most encouraging!

Please forgive me for my enthusiasm for the good work of the good people at Twin Cities Community Hospital and the thousands of professionals nationwide but I did promise Ms. Aylett, the author of the news release, that her work as well was going to the “Commander in Chief’s” desk!

Once again, “thank you” to you and your staff, hopefully, some day the goal of “reduction” will be replaced with “eradicate HAI” and the “statistics”, in my opinion, these are mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and Veterans. Please keep up the good work!

Respectfully,
